The samba balloon ride is a popular form of balloon race, where multiple cars shaped like hot air balloons of various design circle each other along a slightly varied plane given its tilting feature. The name derives from the world renown Brazilian form of song and dance, the samba. That particular musical style is often accompanied by what has been popularly called the “circle dance.” Given the circular nature of balloon race rides, it’s not hard to see why certain varieties would then be called a samba balloon ride.
The Zamperla amusement rides company has been at the forefront of samba balloon ride production. They are available in both park and trailer varieties. They are especially popular because they offer a fair bit of excitement without going too extreme like some amusement park attractions. There’s no insane upside down twists or turns and the speed is just quick enough without being fast enough to make anyone motion sick. As such, these are a great middle of the road option that plenty of families tend to enjoy since they can typically ride samba balloon rides together. No one has to feel left out or scared they won’t be able to handle it!
Like all balloon race rides, samba balloon attractions have a varied number of cars. Many varieties tend to stick with 8 or 12 at the most however. The cars themselves are generally very brightly colored, often in very traditional circus style striped patterns. The colors are usually restricted to a primary and secondary color palette, with as many as 3 to 5 main colors for the attraction overall. The cherry on the top is a series of brightly colored flashing lights that truly shine when the ride is used in the evening once the sun has set.
